The BirthingMoms yoga class can be taken individually or in combination with the BirthingMoms prenatal class series. This is an hour long yoga class recommended for moms in the second and third trimester of pregnancy.
The BirthingMoms yoga class will teach movements, breathing, and chanting which increases the circulation of endorphins and serotonin. This raises the threshold of mind-body relationship to pain and can be transferred as a coping skill in labor. Learning yoga stretches will allow moms to practice life skills of synchronization of breath awareness and muscle relaxation. This can be a wonderful option for both a gentle way to increase body flexibility/breath awareness in pregnancy and for pain management in labor. The participants will find deeper positions to practice a few simple spinal movements, lower back circles, facial and eye movements, pelvic rocking, hands and knees position, wrist and ankle rotations, leg stretches, shoulder stretches, lunges, hamstring lifts, tree poses and deep breathing techniques. The stretches can transition into positions for comfort in labor using movement, walking, positions etc. which are taught in the BirthingMoms Lamaze class.
